Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary

Jammu & Kashmir

Surinsar Mansar is one of the best wildlife Sanctuaries of Jammu and Kashmir and is situated at just 45 kilometers from Jammu.

Named after two beautiful lakes – Surinsar and Mansar in each corner of  sprawling 98 sq. kilometer of wilderness this sanctuary is known for 8 different spices of mammal population mainly Goral, Wild Boar, Barking deer and leopard.

Best Time To Visit

September to March. For bird viewing  March to June.

Jim Corbett National Park

Uttarakand

Located in foothills of the Himalayan range of Uttarakhand, this is one of the oldest and largest National Parks in India where one can encounter Royal Bengal Tigers, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Goral, Elephant, Leopard and Hyena

Spread over an area of 520 square kilometers this is one of the best managed wildlife parks in India that serves as a protected area for Royal Bengal Tigers.  The park is divided into four zones –  Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna and Durgadevi , and is a amazing place to explore specially so for the wildlife buffs. Explore the jungles in a  Jeep or  Elephant  over here.

Rajaji National Park

Uttarakand

Located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand this park is spread over 820 sq. kms  on both sides of  River Ganga.

One can see Asian Elephants, Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Indian hare, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena here. This park also hosts more than 400 species of birds. Jeep safari is conducted in the Chila Range and Motichur Range of the Park.  Chances of wildlife spotting are more in winters as animals come out for the sunlight.

Morning 06:00 AM to 10:00 AM is first safari & second safari time is 02:00 PM to 06:00 PM.

Nanda Devi National Park

Uttarakand

Located in Uttarakhand in the base of Nanda Devi, India’s second highest peak this park offers a spectacular wilderness in Himalayas, with glaciers and pristine wildlife habitats.

Nanda Devi National park is a part of Nanda Devi bio-diversity forest reserve. Visitors cab get a glimpse of snow leopards, mountain bear, Himalayan black-bear, musk deer, Himalayan tahr and many species of birds. This park is also a World Heritage Site s declared by  UNESCO due to its nearness to the Valley of Flowers, Badrinath Temple, and Hemkund Sahib.

Chail Wildlife Sanctuary

Himachal Pradesh

A small yet astounding place 63 kilometers away from Shimla, this was the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Maharajas of  Himachal Pradesh.

Apart from watching Rhesus macaque, Leopards, Sambar, wild boar , flying squirrel and variety of birds like Golden Eagle one can do adventure activities like trekking and hiking too. A beautiful place with cover of serene greenery. This place is a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers.

Located in Alwar, Rajasthan this was an erstwhile hunting ground for the Maharajas of Jaipur.

This park boasts of a diverse flora and fauna as its actually an alluvial plains between the Mohana River  in its north and Suheli river in the south.  The main attractions are Tigers, Deer, Hog, Sloth Bear, Rhinoceros, Elephant, Sambar, Hog deer, Cheetal, Kakar, Wild pig, Rhesus and many more.  During winters one can also watch more than 450 species of birds here.
