Tarkarli Beach of Malvan, is situated in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. - Tarkarli Creek : one of the most romantic spots here. A boat ride through this bay is a wonderful experience. Another attraction is the backwaters of the Kali river which extend from Tarkarli to Kudal the only place for backwaters in Maharashtra.
- Tsunami Island :The hub of adventure sports with water rides and parasailing. Make sure you visit this place during the morning and taste omelette served at the stalls at the coast and for the Dolphin tour .
If you want to experience the best scuba diving and snorkeling at reasonable rates, head to Malvan Marine Sanctuary. The clear waters, school of colorful fishes and the coral reefs are simply amazing here.
Far away from the crowded beaches, there is a peaceful Rock Garden at Malvan. Your kids can enjoy a toy train ride over here.
Sindhudurg Fort and Padmagarh Forts in Malvan are worth visiting. Sindhugarh Fort on the larger island was built by Shivaji in 1664 and it is seen floating on an island across the shore. You can reach here through frequent ferries from Malvan. You can notice the print of Shivaji’s hands and foot in a turret above the entrance. On the smaller island, there is the ruined Padmagarh Fort.
Take a boat ride from Tarkarli to Nerurpar and enjoy the splendid view of the tranquil coastline with palm trees and casuarinas trees. You can even have an experience of snorkeling over here.

As far as food is concerned, Malvani cuisine mainly consists of tasty seafood. Tangy spices like tart and kokum are used to prepare pomfret, mackerels, crabs, lobsters and shrimps. Curry prepared with coconut milk and kokum is served with these dishes.

The nearest airport to Tarkarli is Goa Dabolim, 81 km away. Taxis and buses are easily available from here to get you to Tarkarli. Sindhudurg and Kudal are the nearest railhead stations near Tarkarli (about 30kms away).
