1. The Leh Palace
Built in the 17th century King Sengge Namgyal the nine story Leh Palace offers a magnificent view of the town of Leh, its surrounding areas and the Indus river. As of today this palace has been converted into a museum that displays rare collection of royal dresses, crowns ornaments weapons etc.
2. The Thiksey Monastery, Leh, Ladakh
One of the must visit places in Ladakh, this 600 year old monastry has stood the test of time in the ruthless lands here. The Himalayas around it add to its beauty. Dalai Lama got a huge statute of Budhha constructed here that is made of clay and covered with gold paint.
3. Tso Moriri Lake
A fresh water lake situated at 15000 ft. The journey to Tso Moriri is outstanding as it offers abrupt changes in the landscape from coarse and harsh to lush green full of vegetation. Also a hot spring here and guest houses are available by the lake for stay.
4. Zanskar Valley
One of the most remote places in Ladakh, this picturesque valley lies between the Zanskar ranges and the Great Himalayan ranges. The Zansker river is the main attraction here. This valley remains closed for about eight months in a year due to heavy snowfall.
5. Magnetic Hill
A must visit place in Ladakh due to a strange natural phenomena that defies gravity. In this hill a vehicle can be pulled up in its steep slope with the ignition off. The hill is on the National Highway from Leh to Kargil to Baltik. A Gurudwara near the hill is also worth a visit.
6. Nubra Valley
The Nubra valley is one of the most beautiful places here and is also known as the Valley of Flowers is 150 Kms. away from Leh, the capital of Ladakh. On the way to this valley you can also see the Khardung La pass which is the highest motorable road in the world. This place is also famed for the double humped camel safari.
The Chang La Pass is a high mountain pass located in Ladakh, India. At 17,590 ft above the sea level, it’s said to be the third highest motorable road in the world. The pass, guarded and maintained by the Indian Army (due its proximity to Chinese border), it’s covered with snow throughout the year.
A saline water lake that is about 134 Km long at an altitude of 14.270 ft. 60% of the lake falls under China. The scenic beauty of this lake is almost unreal with blue waters that reflects the sky and the mountains surrounding it.
9. The Hemis National Park
Located at the eastern part of Ladakh this place is a paradise for bird watchers. Also you can spot the snow leopard here along with many other animal species like Himalayan hare and Tibetan wolf, red fox and Eurasian brown bear.Visit the 400 year old monastery in this park. Trekking and camping the some of the must do activities here.
The season of Monsoon and Spring are considered as the best time to visit Leh Ladakh.
