This is the best place to buy the have a look at the most authentic Sikkimese art and graft objects like hand woven hand painted Tibetan masks, Tibetan carpets with traditional motifs, shawls, blankets, richly coloured Sikkimese wooden tables, jewellery and many more gift items.
3. Rumtek Monastry
Situated at a distance of 24 kms from the main city this is one of the most revered monastery in India after Tawang and Dharamshala. Beautifully built at around 16th century this place is an oasis of calm and peace surrounded by spectacular views and green hills. The monastery is also known as Dharma Chakra Centre.
4. Ganesh Tok
A temple of lord Ganesha that is reverred by many, you can enjoy the most splendid views of the Khangchendzonga, and the Gangtok town from here.

The Gangtok zoo that houses many endangered specias and where the animals are kept in their natural habitats. It covers 230 hectares forested land with elevations ranging from 6,500 t0 8,000 feet.

A shopping area and the main hub of the town where no vehicles are allowed. A must visit place if you love shopping and fun.

7. Nathula Pass
Nathula pass lies 56 kms away from Gangtok. You can see the fenced Indo-China border from here with Indian and Chinese soldiers guarding the borders. On the eastern horizon there lies the majestic peak of Chomolhari of Bhutan.
8. Tsmogo Lake
Also known as Changu Lake and situated 36 kms away from Gangtok this is a holy lake and one of the most visited tourist destinations due to its unnerving beauty. You can enjoy the beauty of this place and gaze at the yaks nearby or even try a yak ride.
9. Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial temple
A temple dedicated to a Sikh soldier who bravely died near Nathula pass. The soldiers and the locals here beleive that his spirit till date roams around the area and protects the soldiers in the inhospitable conditions.
Its a picturesque grazing valley for yaks at 3500 meters above sea level. The wonderful rivers with rocks scattered and flowers blooming in between makes it more alluring for the tourists. There is also a hot water spring here.
11. Do Drul Chortan
The Chorten Stupa is marked by a golden top dome that can be seen from various places in Gangtok. It is a large white Tibetan pagoda or stupa that is surrounded by dormitories for young monks.
12. Cholamu Lake
This is the highest lake of India and is one of the most beautiful too. A crystal clear lake that is very near the China border will leave you awestruck with its natural beauty.
