Maravanthe beach is a village South Canara district of Karnataka between Goa and Bangalore, surrounded by Arabian sea on the right  and Sauparnika River on the left. It is one of the most beautiful beach of Karnataka and is known as the Virgin Beach because it has a splendid expanse of unexploited white sand.

Best time to visit: September to March is the ideal season to visit Maravanthe because it has a pleasant climate during those months.

The splendor of Maravanthe

The pristine beach is the main highlight of this peaceful beach getaway. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving  are just a few fun things that you can do in Maravanthe. The coral reefs and marine life of deep-sea creatures are a delight to watch at close up.

To end the day in peace just cruise through Souparnika River to the beautiful Padukone Village in a boat or simply relax at the beach with palm trees swaying around them adding to the beauty of the surreal environment. Beach walk, meditation and yoga are other activities you can do at Maravanthe. Collect lovely conch shells and relive your childhood. You can even shop for such colorful souvenirs of shells. The river is said to have therapeutic importance according to the legends so people  take a dip in the river to feel rejuvenated.

A few interesting places near Maravanthe are – the extremely renowned Mookambika Temple at Kollur (37 kilometers from Maravanthe), Kodi Beach (4 kilometers from Kundapura) and Belaka Theertha Falls. You must visit Baindur to witness its magnificent sunset and Saint Mary’s Island that is popular for the dark volcanic rock formations. Bijadi is also worth visiting for the commendable architecture of Bajdi beach house built from wood and Mangalorean tiles.

Reaching Maravanthe

Maravanthe is easily accessible from Mangalore (108 kms). Mangalore is the nearest airport as well as railhead. Maravanthe is well connected to the major cities of Karnataka by good roads. Buses and private vehicles are available from the airport and railway station to reach Maravanthe. Tourists can even reach Maravanthe from Udupi (50 kms). It is around 450 kilometers from Bangalore.

Kundapura has a beach resort at the corner of the seashore and it offers good accommodation options to the tourists. Make sure you get your bookings done in advance so that you do not have to face troubles in finding a stay.
