Kanha National Park or the Kanha Tiger reserve is one of the best wildlife sanctuary if you want to have a thrilling experience of spotting a tiger roaming freely in the wilderness. Wildlife at Kanha
Of course Tigers are the most important attraction of Kanha. Kanah offers a complete safari experience. A 04 WD Jeep safari of around 6 people takes you to the dense interiors of the forest. The safari timings are as follows:
- 15 November – 15 February: Sunrise – 12.00 PM, 3.00 pm – Sunset
- 16 February – 30 April : Sunrise – 1200 PM, 4.00 pm – Sunset
- 1 May – 30 June : Sunrise – 11.00 am, 5.00 pm – Sunset
Morning safaris increase the possibility of spotting a tiger, specially in the summer months and they are longer too.
If you want to go deep inside the wilderness, elephant safari is the best option for you. Wildlife lovers should definitely opt for it because it takes you closer to the animals.
It is best to get the booking for the safari done in advance so that you do not end up disappointed. Khatiya gate is the most popular gate for the safari. Other gates include Mukki and Sarahi.
Bookings for safari can be made online up to 120 days in advance. You can also ask the hotel or travel agents for the same. Ten percent of safari tickets are reserved for gate sales and are sold 30 minutes before opening but there are huge queues for the same.
Near the entrance of Kisli Gate of Kanha National Park, there is a brilliant museum where you can find the skeletons of reptiles, herbivores and carnivores.
Kanha has an extreme and tropical climate. Summers can get really hot with temperatures at 40.6°C and 23.9°C. Winters are pleasant.
