Located in Uttaranchal , the cantonment town of Lansdowne , is one of the few hill stations that has managed to remain wonderfully unchanged over the last century. Not visited by hoards of tourists from all over India, this is one scenic place that has been spared the modernization and frenzied buildings like so many other popular hill stations. There are no commercial centers here.
Lansdowne retains the old world charm with just a few scattered bungalows and a cluster of shops for a market. Set on the green forested slopes of oaks, deodars and pine this is the regimental centre of Indian Army’s Garhwal Rifles. It is a place for the people who want to enjoy nature in its eternity, with nothing much to do.
